• Why do you use oils?
    • It seems counter-intuitive, but moisturizing with oil has been helping my acne A LOT
    • When your skin is dry, our bodies send a signal to produce more oil to help keep it moisturized
    • Sometimes this leads to an OVER production of oil, which contributes to clogged pores and pimples.
    • I've noticed that using oils to moisturize helps my face maintain its oil levels, increase elasticity, produce a healthier, glow-y look, and prevent early signs of aging.
    • Another benefit is that my acne actually gets less severe! Its great!
    • Every skin type can benefit from using oils!! You just have to find the right one for your skin!
  • Why do you use almond and grapeseed oils?
    • Almond oil is said to be the most similar to our natural face oils, and my skin responds VERY well to it.
      • Very moisturizing, takes a bit to 'sink in' to the skin, but it smells nice and is VERY HELPFUL IN THE WINTER!
    • Grapeseed oil is a little thinner and is a good day-time oil for acne-prone skin, like mine :)
  • Why don't you use coconut oil?
    • Coconut oil is way too heavy for my face skin, and clogs the pores on my face. It usually ends up making my acne WORSE
      • This is the case for a LOT of people, and I'm actually more surprised when people say that it WORKS for them
      • But coconut oil is my holy grail body moisturizer and the most I let it touch my face is when I need lip balm
  • Whats the deal with Neem Oil?
    • NEEM OIL IS THE SHIT OK
    • Neem oil is derived from a tree in India and it has been used in Ayurvedic Medicine for hundreds, if not THOUSANDS, of years to fix everything.
    • The Active ingredients in Neem oil are Nimbin and Azadirachtin, the latter of which is actually an AMAZING pesticide (the internet is filled with recipes for pesticides using neem)
    • Neem Oil's big pull, for me, was that it basically kills everything. That sounds scary, but what I mean is that its anti-EVERYTHING which is really important for acne.
    • but it smells nasty. like. PEANUT and GARLIC at the same time. awful. very overpowering.
      • if you can get past the smell then you deserve all the joy neem oil will give you
    • my mom got head lice so to make sure none of those suckers got to me, I covered my scalp in neem for 24 hours and when I washed it out I had the soFTEST HAIR OF MY LIFE
    • Neem is the swiss army knife of skincare. It will fix any skin problem you have. It makes my eczema better. makes my acne better. I've put it on cuts!
    • IMPORTANT NOTE: do not ever use Neem if you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, breast feeding, or around children/babies.
      • Neem oil is ALSO used as a contraceptive, and while it is great for acne, it can seriously mess up a pregnancy!
      • It is THAT heavy-duty that it will end pregnancies and temporarily cause infertility. BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE NEEM!
    • I ONLY use it on my skin, with a layer of almond or grapeseed oil to act as a buffer zone.
  • Where do you buy something so obscure?
    • I buy my face oils (including the neem) at my local health food store!
      • I'm very lucky that I attend a college in a rich white suburb so oF COURSE they have a fancy health food store.
    • If you live in the Chicagoland area, Its a local chain called Fruitful Yield
    • I just checked and you can buy most oils at Vitamin Shoppe (if there is one of those nearby!)
    • If you have to order them online, I use NOW Foods brand and they work GREAT!
    • When buying oil it should be 100% pure, cold-pressed if you can find it!
    • WHEN YOU BUY COCONUT OIL, BUY EXTRA VIRGIN, ORGANIC IF YOU CAN.
      • It should be a solid in a jar. The more "RAW" you can find THE BETTER
