• The Go-Getter
    • I loved that this film was funny and cute but also poignant. I got the message out of it that life’s experiences are meant to be learned from and we shouldn’t run from our troubles. I also loved the character development and how it felt like I was becoming friends with Mercer and Kate as their stories were revealed to each other. I’d give this one an 8 ½ out of 10, docking a point and a half for some stilted acting from a couple of secondary characters.
  • Adaptation
    • This film was really interesting...haha. I loved the playing around of the temporal order of things and how great of an actor Nicholas Cage is. I know some people don’t really like him, but I think he did a great job in this. I’m always intrigued by an actor who gets to play multiple personality types and I think Cage did an excellent job at playing the two brothers. I’d have to give it a 7 out of ten though because it was a pretty slow and rocky start. However, I loved the ending of the story and how the element of surprising the audience was brought into the storyline.
  • Signs
    • I know this isn’t a full length feature film, but I think it deserves to be on this list (this list is mine, as you may recall, so I can make the rules adhere to my wishes). This film is absolutely great though and I don’t have much of a critique on it. As a short film, I’d have to give it a solid 10 because I felt every emotion along with the characters, down to the awkwardness in their relationship.
  • My Blueberry Nights
    • This movie gets only a 4 from me. The acting is horrendous, and the writing is cliché. I did really enjoy that the movie followed small and mundane aspects of most of the characters lives. But the ending, the last kiss in particular, is what has made me lose any respect for this.
