Needles: size 11 and 13 double pointed, tapestry needle

With Smaller needles, cast on 18 sts (divide between 3 needles). Work around k1/p1 rib for 3". Change to larger needles for 4 rounds even. Increase for thumb: k1, m1, kto last st, m1, k1. Knit one rnd even. Next rnd: k2, m1, knit to last 2 sts m1, k2. Next rnd: knit to last 3 sts. Place next 6 sts on a holder for thumb. Cast on 2 sts - 18 sts. Work even for 3 1/2"

Shape top: (k2tog, k1) 6 times- 12 sts. Knit one round even. Next rnd: (k2tog) 6 times- 6 sts. Break off yarn and weave through all sts with tapestry needle.

Thumb: pick up 8 sts around thumb including 6 sts on holder. Knit even for 2 1/2". Next rnd: (k2tog) 4 times- 4 sts. Break of yarn and weave through all sts.
