- keeping a swallowtail butterfly then pinning it when it passed
- running out to the porch in my squeaky shoes to try and see the black bear in the yard, but the noise scaring it away before i could see it
- poking a dead sea lion on the beach, i remember it being huge and i think i poked it to check if it was dead
- looking in the tidepools with a mask and seeing a the teeniest tiniest crab ever
- sitting outside the vet's office and watching sky and hempfey's paws under the door the day they were put down
- getting chased by sea lions with my friend
