there was a day i ended up falling down a tv tropes rabbit hole much like one may fall down a rabbit hole on wikipedia, or, well, any website, really. the point is, i ended up coming across a page for a website called dragon cave after having already stumbled through so many pages i ended on a tv tropes page for a my little pony fanfiction from ye olden fandom days where rainbow dash was secretly princess celestia's daughter. that's all besides the point tho lol.
in my past i've used a similar website called flight rising which now sits unused, waiting for a time where i may or may not return. i sat on if i should dragon cave for a little awhile, before i officially decided to do so on january 18th 2026. i was pretty much immediately enamored with the website and made a note to write a blog post about it around two days later on january 20th, though obviously i'm only getting to it at a later point.
despite wanting to document my experiences with dragon cave to reflect upon later, i've found actually trying to write this blog post to be surprisingly difficult. even after officially beginning to write this journal on february 2nd, i didn't get back to it now until february 8th. i know not all things tend to come at once, especially in my particular life, but this was quite notable from my perspective. still, i wanted to see this through to the end.
i've continued to use dragon cave every single day since i joined as of writing. it was only yesterday, on february 7th, that i officially made a list of tasks pertaining to things i'm doing on dragon cave after having gotten a feel for my intentions with the site. as of writing this can currently be viewed under the ongoing folder, though it may be moved elsewhere eventually.
even in my brief time using dragon cave (having joined less than a month ago as of now) it has proven to be very interesting! i'm still sorting things out with it and discovering all the site has to offer, of course, but it's been an incredibly enjoyable experience. engaging, but i feel no pressure to check it constantly; truly, the way it works actually ensures you aren't refreshing the page over and over. in the current landscape of things online, it's pretty neat :)
attached to this blog is an image of pipio pygmy, my favorite breed on dragon cave!
