- Victoria and Scarlet's family from South Carolina, constantly had hungry dogs and cats running around their property (how I got my first case of lice)
- Breanna, the girl who lived over the hedge in Wytheville and let me play in her backyard kiddie pool during the summer, drove me around in one of those little pink Barbie jeeps
- Randy and Randy Jr., the sex offenders who owned the house we lived in in Winchester, always flooded with rowdy teenagers who would joyride in the neighborhood or ride their dirtbikes in circles around our backyard
- "Ma and Pa", friendly grandparents who lived down the street from us in Winchester, offered us peanut brittle, had a huge portrait of Jesus Christ in their living room and a porch swing they told us to use whether or not they were home
- creepy Russian on Haldane Street who would give us his wife's shoes when he was drunk, the reason why I wasn't allowed to stay home and hand out candy on Halloween
- scary biker guy across the street on Haldane who would rev at all hours of the night
