• Disturbance in bilirubin- Hyperbilirubinemia

  • Hepatic- disturbance of hepatocyte function caused by impaired liver cells
  • Obstructive jaundice- common bile duct occluded by gallstones
  • Hemolytic- excessive breakdown by RBCs

Clinical Manifestations:

  • Yellow skin + mucous membranes
  • Scleral icterus (yellow eyes)
  • Pruritus (Severe itching)
  • Dark urine
  • Clay colored stools
  • Infection- fever + chills
