• Dreamworks kept the secret of Po's heritage just for this movie. A very smart move on their part, which made this movie feel a little more satisfying and not like it was a sequel at all. Cool thing? It was a sequel. Bamf!
  • They credited Shen with the gunpowder. Thus, the viewers are wowed that they're learning history! (I mean, duh, a peacock did not create gunpowder, but it was still the Chinese who did. It's a totally legit weapon, and the producers were clever to incorporate it instead of some mythical legendary superpower that never existed and is obviously unreal.)
  • The background of Shen and his parents. Shen's parents's horror and consternation at his terrible act was very significant.
  • Shen killing all the pandas. HEARTWRENCHING, I TELL YOU ;___________; The way the story writers connected the attack with Po was a genius twist! I honestly thought that oh, Po just survived somehow, blah blah blah. But man. What they did was just neat!
