The Supreme Leader wants Lady Rey, Master of the Knights of Ren, to marry Ben Solo as part of a treaty General Hux has arranged. Ben Solo had turned his back on both the Jedi life and a politician's life, and has an enormous bounty on his head from smuggling instead.

This work arose from two mirrored one-shots I wrote on Tumblr, one from Rey's perspective, and one from Kylo/Ben's. Then I started getting feedback, and now it's become a full-fledged fic. Several months have passed since the Battle of Crait, and Rey of Jakku and Supreme Leader Kylo Ren have continued to haunt each other, appearing at random to each other throughout their days and nights. But the connection is unstable, and longing and loneliness start to overwhelm other concerns.

It starts in a First Order cell, with an ultimatum. “You don’t understand, little Jedi.” It sounds like something between the deepest insult and the most tender term of endearment. “I’m trying to save you.”

Three text messages changed Clyde Logan's life forever. Are you being harassed by a federal agent? Does she have brown hair, horse teeth, and a stick up her ass? Leave now, Clyde. Okay, maybe four. The Resistance is on your side.

Clyde Logan was done with “cauliflower” schemes. But, unlike Jimmy, Sadie still had sway over him. That was why he’d slipped away from her elementary school party and was sneaking into her teacher’s classroom — all to steal her sacred Halloween hoard back.

It had been a spur of the moment. Her heart had overruled her brain – or maybe it had been the force. It was too difficult to tell at this point. However, even now she knew, with or without the force, that she could never have left him there, bleeding, at the mercy of the Resistance. Regardless of redemption, of his relations to Leia, he had done terrible things. She knew that they would take him from her. He would be removed from this world - he would be forced to leave her – and she would never get him back, never be with him the way she desired to be with him. So with the First Order gone and no fight remained, she took his hand and led him to his obsidian shuttle. His eyes downcast and his breath shallow, both from the wound inflicted by Hux and from carrying the weight of a lifetime of compunctious actions. It had been a rash decision. A stupid one. A selfish one.

Ben finally found her. After years of looking and searching, he finds her here, in the forest. However, Ben soon discovers that taking Rey out of the criminal life and providing for her doesn't entail Rey being able to leave that life behind.

“Listen. It might be unprofessional of me to say this and stuff. It is one thing for you to be a dick to me -” His eyebrows rise in astonishment “- but, there’s no need to sustain the dicking around your perfectly good friends and table mates. Take some advice from someone who bartends weddings a lot. You will regret that whiskey I just poured you. Drink.the.water.” Aka. Ben Solo goes to a wedding and falls for the bartender because she is mean to him.

Something sinister lives in the Jakku desert. Ask any local and they'll give you a number of conspiracy theories. But ask Rey, the bartender at Plutt's Bar, and she'll tell you she doesn't give a damn. That is, until the night Kylo and his Knights of Ren come rolling into town and bring nothing but trouble. Soon, she finds herself pulled into a world she never dreamed existed.

After the battle of Crate Kylo Ren is maybe even more alone than before, but now that he knows how is it like to have someone by his side he isn't ready to let go the thought of Rey, the Scavenger from Jakku who showed him the light he still had in him. His duty as the new Supreme Leader place him around someone new: Conciliator Vhera Arani, the Head of the Diplomacy of the First Order. She is all but extraordinary. She's not Force sensitive, she's not a fearless warrior, nor a legendary seductress. Her one, true merit is to be capable of making her voice heard. Vhera and Kylo will develop a weird and unexpected kind of friendship, supporting each other while they both face their demons, like her quite unhealthily relationship with Generl Hux and the fact that, out of nowhere, a woman who calls herself Leia, strong in the Force as only a Skywalker could be, has appeared from the future to warn them of a great danger.

Just a guy. Poe’s childhood friend; a lobbyist; someone who could run marathons in less than four hours. These were the labels she’d reduced Ben down to; boxes to compartmentalise him in, entirely separate from their relationship. The rest, all the myriad things he’d been—someone who made her laugh; the warmth on the other side of the bed; her best friend—those things, Rey had buried. Rey left Ben two years, three months, and sixteen days ago. But who's counting?

Blackness invades the edges of her vision as he carries gently into his ship. Her head falls onto his chest without her volition. As she sinks further into unconsciousness she dimly registers the way he gently tucks her closer against his shoulder
