- If 96% of the righthanded people and 70% of the lefthanded people have a dominant left hemisphere when it comes to language functions, then obviously left- or righthandedness is not directly related to dominance of a hemisphere. Why then is the left hemisphere dominant? Is it random, or are there specific reasons for it? Does it have an advantage, or are people with a dominant right hemisphere for language functions just as good at language? Are there any differences between people with either a dominant left or dominant right hemisphere when it comes to aphasias? How does this whole story relate to animals that are neither left- nor righthanded?
