• house around 250 livestock on the farm, a forever sanctuary
  • 17000 square ft barn (with wifi and bathrooms and stuff)

    • like ice breakers and little things to break up the day
  • groups donate before they come
    • can put toward a specific project, like a new addition or a piece of equipment if they want
  • school logos everywhere on things students build!
  • organic veggies, proceeds go to sustaining the sanctuary
    • sell them at a farm store located on the property
  • work: whatever needs to be done. won't know until we get there!
    • repairing fences, mucking stalls, grooming animals, grape trellis, painting, chicken coop fixing
    • most likely will work from 8am-6pm
  • NOT a huge corporation, which is why no websites and barely a facebook page
    • which is why spring break trips are a HUGE help
    • don't really advertise, because they don't want people to think they are just a petting zoo
    • in addition to having sanctuary, really help promote small local family farms and humane food choices
  • do not eat their animals, but want the public to be educated about making the right choices when it comes to buying food

  • problems
    • students treating the sanctuary as a "vacation" or "resort"
      • we are here to work! please be respectful and do not run off/use things without asking
    • safety precautions: we are working with animals!
    • drama:past trips have had some of it! (site leaders not being professional, kids slacking on work)
  • very excited to have us though, and "friend" new facebook page for more pictures!
