• Messages from two different nephews at about the same age, saved on my answering machine. Both consist of the nephew's voice saying something confused like, "oh, she's not there", and my sister's voice saying, "is it Aunt Margie's machine?" and then their little voices answering affirmatively, followed by being prompted to say "call me back". If they get erased, I'll be so sad.

• Being in a "husband" discussion with friends or acquaintances, and seeing the shocked looks on their faces when I tell them...
