CREVE COEUR ~ Darleen Lavonne Starr, 76, of Creve Coeur, passed away at 8:36 a.m. Monday, September 9, 2013 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born July 11, 1937 in Bloomington to Clarence and Rose Marie (Bridgeman) Fry, she married John Henry Starr in May of 1963. He survives.

Also surviving are two sons, John (Nancy) Starr, Jr. of Creve Coeur and Russell Starr of East Peoria; four granddaughters, D Starr, Emma Rose Starr, Grace Starr, and Lucy Starr, all of Groveland; and one brother, Donald (Marlene) Fry of Peoria.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Darleen worked at Caterpillar, Inc. for 30 years, retiring in 2005.

She was a member of Sacre Coeur Catholic Church in Creve Coeur, the Altar & Rosary Society of the church, and formerly served on the Sacre Coeur School Board. She also was a member of Lake Thunderbird in Putnam, where she formerly served as President and on the Board of Directors, and was fisherman of the year 8 times.

Darleen enjoyed fishing. She cherished her family, especially her grandchildren.

Her funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, September 13, 2013 at Sacre Coeur Catholic Church in Creve Coeur. Abbot Philip Davey will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin.
