  • not a "just say no" approach to youth sexual crisis. New approach: - focus on condoms: not done enough to prevent HIV/AIDS

  • sexuality = totality of being - how we view ourselves- study of self & relationships. (psychological, biological, cultural, ethical)
  • teaching:

- assertiveness: without disrespecting rights (not aggressive / passive) repeat beliefs (broken record, "I don't smoke") (NO messages) (suggesting alternative actions- walk instead) (delay tactics, time to think - toilet, call, coffee)

- C&C thinking: not blindly accepting, analysing available resources, problem-solving

- Communication: Verbal & non. Active listening

- Conflict resolution: Define problem (avoid misconceptions); possible solutions; evaluate; select; action; evaluate

- decision making - goal setting - handling emotions (self-talk; "I" expressions) - negotiation (separate self from issue) - problem solving - public speaking
