𑁍 Lianzi was born in the Fire Nation to a native father and a Water Tribe descendant mother. He was a Waterbender, like his mother and excelled greatly at healing.

𑁍 Growing up in a nation full of Firebenders or non-bending martial artists, he never gained the aptitude for utilizing his element in combat, but had a natural affinity for weaponry and martial arts.

𑁍 From a young age, he was lauded as a ‘genius’, a prodigy who could do anything he set his mind to.

➳ Most things came naturally to him. He excelled in various fields—from domestic chores and liberal arts, to athletics and combat capabilities.

❧· ❨Personal highlights include: swordsmanship, archery, swimming, playing dizi (flute), tinkering, and painting.❩

𑁍 Yet he never sought to make his talents widely known. He didn’t want glory or recognition—he just wanted to help the people around him in any way he could.

𑁍 Lianzi’s father died during a military expedition and his mother fell ill a few years later. He partially blames himself for her eventual passing, due to his inability to personally continue treating her, as well as the belief a dark spirit that had been clinging to him was worsening his mother’s health.

𑁍 After Harmonic Convergence, Lianzi was no longer able to Waterbend and discovered he could Airbend instead.

➳ He had heard of non-benders gaining the ability to Airbend, but not someone’s element being taken away and replaced by another.

➳ Perceiving this as an anomaly—and with no family left to tether him, he set out to Republic City to find the Avatar... or even the Air Nomads for some kind of guidance.
