Dexter: The Worlds Favourite Serial Killer
"We all make rules for ourselves. It's these rules that define who we are. So when we break those rules, we risk losing ourselves and becoming something unknown. Who is Deb now? Who Am I? Is this a new beginning? Or the beginning of the end?"
Yet another outstanding season finale of the best TV program in the history of American television. The insane events that took part in the last episode of the seventh season, left us all astonished, speechless and impatiently waiting for the the program's final season. It's safe to say that "Dexter" has made "CSI" look like "Hannah Montana".
I mean, who in heavens would have thought that watching a serial killer hunt, torture and dismember his victims, could become so damn addictive? Yep, he caught us all by surprise.
Dexter Morgan is a man of few words. Through the day, he plays the role of a caring father to his son Harrison, a loving brother to his foster sister Debra and a blood splatter expert at the Miami Metro Homicide department. He sounds pretty normal so far, right? I'm sure you'll change your mind as soon as I fill you in on his abnormal, dark and disturbing little secret... At night, he becomes a bloodthirsty hunter, who is not willing to let his next prey walk out of his grasp alive.
After witnessing his biological mother's gruesome death as only a small child, Dexter was adopted by a former detective of the Miami Metro Homicide, Harry Morgan. Dexter fitted in with the family, but always had abnormal behaviour, he didn't show or have what you would call "Human" emotions. He's secretive, he's cold and he's quite. All of this can only be because of having to witness his mother being dismembered with a chainsaw at the age of 4. Pretty rough, right?
Harry soon found out about Dexter's uncontrollable urge to kill, and tried to rescue his adopted son from turning into horrendous monster. To reach that almost impossible target, Harry gave Dexter a "code".
Rule number one of The Code: NEVER get caught. Rule number two of The Code: NEVER kill an innocent.
Harry also taught Dexter how to hunt his victims, get rid of their bodies and cover his tracks. One thing Harry thought Dexter would never be able to feel was: love. But apparently, in this program everything is possible.
