Stylistic influences

• Nichole Nordeman: for her incredibly vulnerable artistry, especially in her lyrics. For showing me that I did not need to be a belter to sing well, and that I could be a pianist & a singer. For being the most valuable lesson I learned as a songwriter: to take the tangible & the concrete and weave tales and images and beauty from what could be seen and felt and understood.
• Bethany Dillon: for her simplicity & the topics she addresses.
• Angela Aki: for the way she rocks a piano.
• Vienna Teng: for the way she rocks a piano & her poetic lyrics, though cryptic, I learned that I don't want to be a cryptic songwriter.
• Ginny Owens: for the way she writes simply & beautifully & honestly on the piano.
