Take a new way home from work. Slow down to appreciate all the beautiful, wonderful things you often whizz past. Buy sidewalk chalk and leave positive messages in high traffic areas or your neighborhood. Protip: do this challenge at night. Less foot traffic to avoid and you’ll surprise people on their way to work! Pay for the coffee in the car behind you at Starbucks Approach someone who intimidates you and compliment them. Or if you’re not sure what to say, try this: “Of all the [creative / interesting / beautiful] people I’ve seen today, you’re my favorite.” Give them a moment to smile and walk away. Don’t be attached to the outcome. The goal is to give the compliment, not their response. Go to lunch by yourself. Stay present and don’t hide on your phone while there. Take a new fitness class you’ve always wanted to try. Laugh at yourself when you suck. Send someone flowers for no reason. Try a new coffee/lunch place in town. Write 5 thank you cards to your best friends and tell them why they mean so much to you. Have a dance off in front of your mirror. You’re never to old to remember what it feels like to be a kid again. Go to a thrift store with a $20 budget, dress your friend/significant other hilariously, and then go out to lunch in your new spunky outfits. Ask your waitress to choose the winner. Loser picks up the tab. Go to a store with your significant other with a 10 dollar budget. You have half an hour to pick a gift for the other. Go to your favorite book store, and leave notes in your favorites books for future readers. Get some great ideas from Operation Beautiful for your stickies. Have an indoor camping night. Build a fort out of blankets and furniture. Cook s’mores in the microwave. Turn out all the lights in the house and only navigate with flashlights. Go to a restaurant, convince the cook to create something completely new for you. Take a class you’ve always wanted to take. Cooking, fitness, or new skill. Anything goes. Say YES to an invite or request you would normally so no to. ;) Wake up early. Go for a walk at sunrise and cook yourself a huge breakfast. Because self love is the highest form of love. Buy a pack of sticky notes. Start anonymously leaving compliments around for friends, coworkers, lovers or strangers. (one of my favs!) Hire a photographer, and get head shots... just because. You deserve great photos without needing a reason! Eat somewhere out of your budget. Order without worrying about the price. Don’t allow yourself to feel guilty. Go all out on a bubble bath. Candles, music, and a dangerous amount of bubbles Buy lunch for a homeless person, or better yet, take them out to lunch and ask to hear their story. Apply for jobs that intimidate you. Ask for constructive criticism at work. Don’t get defensive when they give it to you. Just say thank you Try a new food (like a new fruit, or seaweed!) Invite a co-worker or friend on Facebook you don’t know well to lunch and get to know them better. Call an old friend it’s long overdue with (or) reconnect with someone from your past. When ordering a drink at a restaurant, ask the waiter to surprise you.
