I have my favorite songs, but sometimes they are my favorite because of certain lyrics within the song. This list will probably contain some lyrics I wrote myself, not because I'm conceited (well, maybe I am a little sometimes) but because I wrote them so they are very relatable to me no duh.
- "In the morning when I wake/ and the sun is coming through/ Boy, you fill my lungs with sweetness/ and you fill my head with you." - Paper Kites, Bloom
- "I don't wanna wake up in the mornin' but I've got to face the day/ That's what all my friends I do not like as much as you say/ I don't wanna see you with another guy but the truth is that I may/ That's what all my friends I do not like as much as you say/ But if you wanna come back it's alright, it's alright/ It's alright if you wanna come back/ Do you wanna come back? It's alright, it's alright/ It's alright if you wanna come back to me. " - The Vaccines, If You Wanna
- "I was on the mend when I fell through/ Sky around was anything but blue/ I found as I regained my strength/ a wound across my memory that/ no amount of stitches would repair/ When I awoke/ you were standin' there." - February 7, Avett Brothers
- "I don't want to get you all worked up/ Except secretly I do/ I'd be lying if I said I didn't have designs on you/ Standing on the corner of 6th and Where do I go/ The parade's shut down now the rain is running the show/ Where did all these people come from and how soon can they leave/ Normally I'd be into it but I need to get some sleep/ Though I do wish you'd come over but I'm warning you if you do/ I'd be lying if I said I didn't have designs on you." - Old 97's, Designs on You
- "Make your siren's call and sing all you want/ I will not hear what you have to say/ cuz I need freedom now and I need to know how/ to live my life as it's meant to be." - M&S, The Cave
- "There was a dream and one day I could see it/ like a bird in a cage I broke in and demanded that somebody free it." - The Avett Brothers, Head Full of Doubt/Road Full of Promises
- "I wanna live/ I wanna give/ I've been a miner for a heart of gold/ It's these expressions/ I never give/ that keep me searchin' for a heart of gold/ and I'm gettin' old." - Neil Young, Heart of Gold
- "When I was a girl/ I saw myself when I saw the world/ As you move on the view expands/ so you're not as big as you were." - Me, Better With Age
- "You think you're in the movies/ everything's so deep." -The Cars, You Might Think
- "Always remember there's nothing worth sharing like the love that let us share our name."-The Avett Brothers, Murder in the City
- "I met you at the rail road station/ now years ago/ and something happened on the night I last drank with you/ in neon glow/ Now I don't see you anymore/ The midwestern sky/ is gray and cold/ the sun never shines/ but that's alright/ I couldn't find/ the letters that you wrote me/ What did you write/ Where'd you go/ Well, I don't know." - Band of Horses, Blue Beard
- "Well you can kiss like fire and you made me feel/like every word you said was meant to be." -TPATH, Even the Losers
- "My life is but a coin/ It's drawn from an empty pocket/ and dropped into a slot with dreams of 7's close behind/ And my hopes and my fears go with it/ and the moon and sun go spinnin'/ like the numbers and the fruit/ before our eyes." -Avett Brothers, The Once and Future Carpenter
- "And of these cut-throat busted sunsets/these cold and damp white mornings/I have grown weary/If through my cracked and dusted dime-store lips/I spoke these words out loud would no one hear me?/Lay your blouse across the chair,/let fall the flowers from your hair/And kiss me with that country mouth so plain/Outside the rain is tapping on the leaves/To me it sounds like they're applauding us."-Ray LaMontagne, Empty
- "Got lost/ in the places I've been/ I should go out with my friends/ I'd go tonight but I know you'll be there too/ there too/ For me/ this bottle of wine/ is to slow down my mind/ Forget the things that I knew/ I knew." -Band of Horses, Evening Kitchen

- "Lonesome/ like you were when you were sixteen/ Even if I wasn't list'ning/ did I help when I was kissing you?" -The Avett Brothers, Bella Donna
- "I'm earnin'/ a reputation/ My conscience, mistrust and regret/ Courageous/ just like the captain/ Marchin' forward/ with no doubt/ in his head." -Guster, The Captain
- "As I stand in front of an unresponsive automatic door/ just another door that won't open for me anymore." -John K. Samson, Heart of the Continent
- "I hit the books and I got myself on track/ All except my love life- that's a train wreck/ I've drowned myself in music and tried not to care/ but the thought of you hits me outta nowhere/ You can't stop a heavy rolling stone/ you can't pull the thread and not expect it to come undone/ You're the itch that can't be scratched/ in the middle of my back/ You're the pretense and the subtext/ the conquest/ In everything that's done and said/ you're in the back of my head/ You're the pretense and the subtext/ The reason for my unrest." - Moi, Reason for Unrest
