- emotional availability--not to be confused with neediness
- good hands
- a good brain with good thoughts
- some sort of useful skill would be nice
- ambition to not spend his whole life in a dead-end job

- a reader
- creative in some capacity
- a good kisser
- a romantic, especially in a quirky way that shows that he knows me personally, not just some vague generalized idea of a girl
- someone who understands that reading a book in the same room counts as togetherness, because usually I'll read alone
- someone who can cook, or is willing to learn and help
- more extroverted than me, so I can remember to leave the house once in a while, but not so extroverted that I seem antisocial or uncaring--someone who understands the differences between ex-and-int
- someone to watch movies with
- someone to share books with
- someone who doesn't mind that I'm always cold because he's always warm enough to spare some heat
- a traveller, or at least someone who will travel without complaining, because I get the itch bad
- someone trustworthy
- someone stable enough to be willing to trust
- someone taller and darker than me, so in case we have kids, they can reach things and not burst into flames in sunlight
- someone thoughtful in more things than he's thoughtless about
- someone who doesn't make rash decisions
- someone who can pay the bills, whether or not I work, and has a good record of actually doing so
- someone who remembers that I need to eat and brew more tea, even when I don't
- someone who likes me for me, not for some idea of what I could be with a little fixing up
- someone whose decorating taste meshes with mine
- someone whose housekeeping skills are probably a little better than mine, or who encourages mine to be better
- someone worth being my best self for, and who makes it seem effortless to be so
- someone with compatible philosophies about life, love, religion, and the world
- someone who fits into my life, and whose life fits me, without a whole lot of struggling either way
- someone who will garden with me
- someone who will teach me new things and happily learn the things I have to teach
- someone secure in who they are
- someone who understands british humor
- someone who likes cats and kids
- someone who won't push me so hard that I have to run away to save my sanity
- someone who will kill the big scary bugs for me
- a good sense of fashion, in some sense
- a little classiness, at least where it's required
- someone who understands that I'm here because I want to be, not because I owe them anything
- a goofball
- a great smile
- nice hair, preferably of the artfully messy type
- knows how to treat a book
- doesn't rely on small talk, but knows when that's needed
- someone inclusive
- an encourager
- someone who has interests outside of me, so that I'm not the only thing in their world, which is too much stress
