People like lists. My theory as to why is simple: lists are easy to read, requiring very little brain work; they are easy to focus on especially during those private moments when they’d like a little company. And lists give you something to think about: they inform, amuse, outrage, comfort and even confuse and are also out of your control: perfect entertainment.

  • Start looking for a job.
  • Let people know you are looking for a job.
  • Email peeps who are working where you think work could be available.
  • Ask them for feedback on the company and watch how empty- headed they suddenly become.
  • Ask them to forward your resume and cover letter to HR.
  • Sit back and watch as they fumble with the words to explain why they can't help you or better yet, just igmore you altogether.
  • Watch and listen as they tell you they know so and so and so and so in HR and offer help to other friends.
  • Realize they have revealed a lot about themselves and let it go.
  • Find a great new gig in spite of them.
