- On a timeline of worldwide shootings from 1996 to the present, of the 77 listed, 59 of them were in America
- The rate of homicides per 100,000 is higher in America than the rate of Canada, Germany, England & Wales, Australia, Switzerland, Sweden, Austria, Japan and New Zealand combined
- Guns are actually more likely to raise the risk of injury that confer protection
- Every day in America, 33 people are murdered with guns while in Japan (where there are gun control laws) there were 7 gun-related deaths in 2010 - SEVEN in a YEAR
- At the current homicide rate (around 2008/10), roughly one in every 240 Americans will be murdered
- As of 2002, 15 states automatically restore the firearm rights of convicts upon their release from prison or completion of parole and 6 other states automatically restore the firearm rights of juvenile convicts upon their release from prison or completion of parole
- Using fake driver's licenses bearing fictitious names, investigators with the Government Accountability Office had a 100% success rate buying firearms in five states that met the minimum requirements of the federal background check system. A 2001 report of this investigation states that the federal background check system "does not positively identify purchasers of firearms," and thus, people using fake IDs are not flagged by the system
In America, obtaining a driver's licence involves several tests - written, practical, health, eye, etc. Why should these same checks be put into place to obtain a gun licence? Why shouldn't you have to provide a valid reason and prove why you need a gun? Why shouldn't you have to renew your licence and have every single detail registered on a system - name, D.O.B., height, weight, eye colour, photo ID, etc? Why should just anyone be allowed a gun and then use that gun to kill innocent people?
