  • Half a Soul - whimsical, fantasy, regency era/old timey, high society

This is about a girl called Dora who had half her soul stolen by a fairy when she was a child. Having half a soul means she doesn't feel emotions as people with a complete soul do.. at its essence it's a regency love story but with a hint of whimsical fantasy. I was surpirsed how much i enjoyed this one, it's only a short book and it was just a nice chill time! This book is part of a 'regency series' but the stories are not interlinked so you can read in any order - i've only read this one so far :)

  • Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Fairies - fantasy, witty, clever, light academia?

Emily Wilde is a professor who journeys to the far north of europe to discover hidden fae to document for her encyclopaedia of fairies! the story is written as journal entries and has footnotes like a real academic document! the descriptions of fae in this story is really interesting, it's not like all fae look like humans with pointy ears that a lot of fae stories in this era have (cough acotar cough).. there's a love story sub plot as all my recs do lol but the love interests already know each other at the beginning of the story.. although it is still slow burn! the main guy character is super witty and also gives howl vibes (i am sensing a theme here with my faves). There's a second book that has just come out recently so I believe it's either a duology or series but i am yet to read it)

  • Sorcery of Thorns - fantasy, magic, libraries

A stand alone story about a girl who lives/grows up in a magical library full of grimoires! there's a love story subplot and the guy gives howl vibes~ and he has a magical cat soooo books, a howl-coded main love interest and a fluffy cat .. (i hope i sold you on the vibes alone)
