user picture Elaine: how was tenth circle? i just couldn't get into it. :[ jul 13 2009
user picture Elaine: but the guy was a comic designer so it reminded me of Ian. :]
user picture Elaine: and water for elephants. How was that too!?
user picture larissa: What is your favorite Jodi Picoult book? I just finished "House Rules" and loved it but sometimes I don't like her books...(Mercy, Tenth Circle...). Also your current background is my fave!!! I used it as inspiration for one of my wedding pictures (and thanks God my photographer took 3 because the first 2 are crooked and I can't even look at them. AND no matter how I try to edit them I can't make them straight.) But seriously, love it. And this list is so ridiculous (in a good way). Puts mine to shame!!! may 16 2011
user picture Court: That's the thing about Jodi Picoult books. . . I've never been head-over-heels in love with anything she's done. Of course, I am when I'm reading them & afterwards I feel like I've just binged on cocaine or something because I just want to keep, keep, keep reading her books. . . but here's the thing: when I set out to answer your question about which was my favorite, I couldn't come up with one RIGHT like that. I had to look at my bookshelves & read my list & consider it. I think my favorites so far have been Harvesting the Heart (which I saw that you read & didn't care for), The Pact (which is one of her books that is the most popular, & I like it in a morbid-fascination-with-suicide sort of way), Plain Truth, & Keeping Faith. I did like Mercy, once again because of the morbid-fascination-with-school-shootings sort of way. You've probably seen my list of Jodi Picoult books that I've read & I am still working on CONQUERING her ass because she puts out WAY too many books. . . it's like I have a vendetta against her for it. I like personal drama & really, really fucked up psychological stories, stories about human nature & tragedy. If you identify with any of that (which would make you just as weird as I am) then seriously, SERIOUSLY check out Wally Lamb's books, particularly She's Come Undone. When I'm reading his books I can't believe half of this shit that's going on, which has peaked my interest in The Memory Keeper's Daughter (I do read your blog every chance I get). &&& I think I've seen the picture of your ring set up like my background! It's wonderful & I love it. & now I want to look for your picture again, hmmmm. & my list is ridiculous because seriously, besides working & spending time with Steven the only thing I do is read. It's an addiction. may 22 2011
user picture Court: & read Wicked! It will change your life. Plus, the musical is absolutely amazing.
user picture Elaine: Court-- what did you think of Miss Peregrine's Home? I read it too and I'm interested to see what you thought. jun 11 2012
user picture Court: I only liked parts of it. When I first started it I thought it was going to be REALLY freaky, & that kind of let me down. It's been a while since I read it, but I remember being bored a lot. I like the idea that Miss P is some kind of a witch/magic person & they're supposed to be dead but they exist in this alternate reality. I think the thing that I don't buy is the "monster" aspect of it. That sort of stuff doesn't scare me - ghosts & hauntings & such - THAT'S the stuff that scares me. I think I gave it like 3 out of 5 stars on Goodreads? I didn't hate it, but I wasn't head-over-heels in love with it, either. I did like the love story & the fact that he picked this alternate reality over everything else. What did you think?
user picture Elaine: I'm like you-- I thought it was going to be SCARY and it totally wasn't. It was creative definitely, but not scary. Here's a link to my review: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/214289632 Thanks for adding me by the way! You've always been one of the only people I can talk to about books because you match my love for reading. lol jun 12 2012
user picture Elaine: you need to update this because I don't know what else you've read since you got your Kindle. Update it nowwwwww! oct 20 2012
user picture Elaine: I think you should start putting star ratings out to the side of each book that way I know whether to read it or not. lol jan 14 2013
user picture Elaine: update this list or I will throat punch you. oct 1 2013
