had to finish this before I got more busy with my intern program

genre: murder mystery, crime

overall thoughts: (most of this is from my goodreads review lol) This book was very riveting - particularly the final chapters (which did make my stomach flip at times). I liked that it highlighted the portrayal of crimes within the media and how women generally do not feel safe in today's society. Must admit, the first couple of chapters were difficult to get into and make sense of due to the changing perspectives. However, once I was able to gather my thoughts, I made more sense of the storyline and was able to become increasingly compelled.

memorable moments:

  • page 186 when it mentions the disproportionate amount of media attention POC murders receive in comparison to caucasian murders (I listen to this true crime podcast called InHuman and she speaks about this all the time and I just find it so disturbing that it continues to happen despite media portrayals of this discrepancy)

would I read this again: YES

would I recommend this book? Yes, I think if people want an easy read - majority of it is fast paced. Trigger warnings for rape, cheating, murder, grooming
