• After many attempts of me struggling to make this - here's my first review on listography :)

start date: 10/08/2021 | end date: 11/08/2021

Genre: fantasy, friendship, supernatural, horror

Summary: story based on two characters who resemble good v bad, highlighting dark themes present even in today's society (age, morality, friendship).

Memorable moment:

  • "The trouble with Jim was he looked at the world and could not look away. And when you never look away all your life, by the time you are thirteen you have done twenty years taking in the laundry of the world"

This quote stuck with me because sometimes in life we can get so wrapped up in things we forget to just /live/ and I think this is something we need to consider a lot more.

Thoughts: What I really liked about this book was that it made it seem like I was in a nightmare myself - sounds weird I know but the whole book involved dark themes and for it to make me feel like I was in a nightmare, really sets the tone. Like some chapters were only a page long which sort of feels like those parts in a nightmare where its 5 seconds and shifts to the next phase of the nightmare/ dream. Honestly I hate creepy and scary stuff but when it comes to books I usually get really wrapped up in things like this (this is why a lot of my books end up being murder mysteries/ crime based/books that make you think)

Would I read this again? Probably but in the distant future - it is a very easy read, lots of imagery and symbolism to flesh out which is fun
