Summary: This is a short story in Otsuichi's collection titled 'Zoo'. This particular short story is set in the future where humanity has been completely destroyed by perhaps an extremely advanced form of germs. The main character has been woken up by an unknown man who tells him that MC's reason for being woken up is to bury him when he dies.
Thoughts:I really loved this story, I think that it was written very beautifully. I loved the setting as an isolated cottage surrounded by forests. I could honestly visualize the setting to a T. It also delves into the discussion of death, which was very interesting and a complete 180 to the horror and thriller stories that Otsuichi usually writes in Zoo, but I was not disappointed at all! I think this is one of my top short stories from his collection.
"The more one loves, the heavier the meaning of death becomes, and the deeper the sense of loss. Love and death are not different things, the are the front and back of the same thing."
I honestly felt that..
