Soon (book 5 of the once, then and now series) by Morris Gleitzman

start date: 11 Aug 2021 | end date: 11 Aug 2021

genre: wartime, adventure

Summary: Based around the time of Nazis, it follows young children and their attempts of survival.

Thoughts: If you don't know, the 'once, then and now' series is my favourite book series. I like that Morris Gleitzman has written this series to be read in any order because then I can come back and read any of the books without feeling the need to read the whole series all over again. I think what really hits me with this series is that it doesn't avoid the truth of that time. It's always hard-hitting. I remember the first time I actually read the first book 'Once', I was in year 6 and it hurts that at that time, I was reading about children my age who had to live in this war-stricken country. I decided to read this book again because to be completely honest, I forgot what the story was about. Re-reading it again, I got chills. This book in particular was based loosely on medical help during these times and it brings perspective on our current health system. I guess by chance it was sort of relevant to our current COVID-19 situation and how we've managed so far.
