  • This shouldn't have taken me this long tbh but I was trying to fit in this book during lectures

genre: fantasy, romance

summary: Based in a victorian (?) society where books were made solely for the purpose of "binding" someone's truth. If a person had something they wanted to forget completely, they could have this truth bound into a book and they would forget. However, the consequence of binding a truth is that it takes apart of the person with it.

memorable moments: I tagged a few quotes within this book but this one stuck with me.

  • 'One misplaced word' he says, with a sigh 'can be the difference between victory and failure'

I think this stuck with me just because I know that at times I never think before I say something and it ends negatively so just a quote to reinforce that message.

overall thoughts: TBH I didn't know it was going to end up being a romance but I'm not disappointed. I liked the concept of 'binding' the truth and wish they would've delved into that a lot more than they did. The romance was subtle and the chemistry was well- written. I feel like I enjoyed this romance novel because it wasn't written typically - I feel like I could actually see the inner conflicts within a relationship instead of just bland surface romance.

would I read this again? Yes, most likely would I recommend this book? Yes, the concept is interesting and if you're into romance and that slow burn then GO FOR IT
