summary: Fake dating trope involving a PhD student and a professor
overall thoughts: I really got pulled in by the tiktok hype with this one. Should not have trusted booktok especially after they said 'We were liars' was bad lmao (but I still found These Violent Delights on booktok). I mean it wasn't a bad book - more like something I would only read once. A big fan of the fact that the main character was a female in STEM because we love that for our in real life STEM gals. The writing was simple and easy to follow along with. I did hope for more conversational development between Olive and Adam. I feel like as a reader we only got to see surface level interests shared between the both of them. The author did try to involve delicate subjects (eg. Olive's mum) between the two but in terms of interests, I feel like they really didn't detail that and then suddenly (*spoiler alert*) they were in love.
would I recommend this book? Yes as an easy read
would I read this book again? probably not (I ruined it by spilling my water on it anyway and it was hard to turn the pages)
