Genre: Fiction, Short Stories, Contemporary

Thoughts: I honestly thought that this book would be a quick read, seeing as though it was only like 160 pages, boy was I wrong! The writing style of Eve Babitz is very dense and beautiful. If this was a different book, I tell you, it would have put me into a reading slump. But this book did not and I found myself still going into a routine of reading in the morning, sometimes the afternoon, and at night many times dozing off during those sessions. If I ever were to do writing as a hobby, I'd want to write like Eve Babitz, she has a way of making secondary and background character interesting. There are so many quotable passages in this book that I still think about and regret not highlighting.

So this book is basically a half fictional, half biographical account of L.a durin...

Chapter 5 I feel at this point Henry just complains way too much about his life, literally just hates on his family.

Chapter 7 I personally loved this chapter!! Everything from her finally understanding how to use her situation for her benefit to the clothes that are described, idk I just really like when authors touch on clothes and fashion of the time period, especially when it's not in like a wattpad way.

I also like how Addie manages to get a jab in at lucifer, where she's all I did all this stuff I wouldn't be able to do so if I was mortal and he's just pissed

Chapter 8 It's getting pretty good when he goes off at Addie for trying to return the book she stole. I'm with Henry on this, I'd be pretty pissed too LOL.

Author: Jenny Han

Genre : Teen Romance

Summary : Adolescent girl nicknamed 'Belly' goes to a beach house with her brother; Steven and family friends every summer. The family friends include 2 boys; Jeremiah and Conrad. Jeremiah is Belly's best friend and Conrad is her forever crush. Summer after summer, the book involves Belly growing up with the boys.

Thoughts : Not going to lie, I literally read this because Taylor Swift's song 'This Love' was used in the tv show trailer. I can tell why everyone on tiktok has labelled this "going back to their childhood" because it feels like it was written for a seventh grader. Writing was simple and to the point. Character development was subtle but I guess we'll see more of it in book 2 and 3. I did enjoy it as an easy read though. Keen for the tv series.

Would I re-read it? I would consider re-reading this

Author: Michael Azerrad

Genre: Non Fiction, Biography, Music, Punk Rock

Summary: A biography on Nirvana based on Michael's interviews with the members of Nirvana, family and friends. Basically the only authorised biography before the lead singer committed suicide.

Thoughts: I read this book awhile ago and only got round to writing a review. It's Basically the most reputable biography on Kurt Cobain before he died. Michael basically interviewed Kurt, Dave and Krist, as well as close family and friends of Kurt growing up as well as after his success. It was very interesting learning about Kurt's life growing up and how he was. I feel like he has been sanctified by people in this current time, but after reading the biography, you find that *unsurprising* he was human, and had just as many problems in his life, if not, more than mo...

* Thoughts from book club (13/06/2022)

Abby's thoughts:

  • Page 105: "She's pretty, she really is, but there's the troublesome shine in her eyes, a familiar milky light and he's relieved he doesn't have to lie about having plans tonight"
  • Page 110 was really beautiful to read - felt really authentic down to the lights splashed across the face of the audience
  • Page 116 made me laugh because it reminded me of Reeva's guilt free shopping.
  • I kind of liked that they showed the consequences for Addie. When we first started reading the book I thought Addie was very 1D so now seeing this side of her shows character development and her progression. We get to see her desire for her mother's touch and her strive to become better and how she thinks in adversity (i.e nee...

Genre: Middle grade, Fantasy, Magic, Witches and Wizards

Thoughts: This is the book I consider to have gotten me out of my book slump. Boy did I eat this book up, and boy did I enjoy this.

I thought that the movie was good but the original source material makes the movie look like shit. The characters, the world building, the writing style was it for me.

Fred and George appeared more in this book which was something I appreciate.

I have to say, the best scenes were the quidditch scenes, especially for the finals. I actually felt my heart racing during those finals.

I also love Crookshanks and the fact that he was basically the main character after Harry.

Overall: 100/10

Reread: YES

Pg 107- Who's Robbie again?

Pg 108-The author tends to describe the characters clothes a lot, it's literally a step away from a 2013 wattpad fic

112- Was Bea ever mentioned in prt 1? Cuz I donb't know her

113- Did my man seriously get roofied?? He saw it dissolving in his cup and he still drank it.

Little pink umbrellas, I like that. I'll be sure to return to that whenever I'm feeling depressed and decide to medicate with drugs LOL

Why is Henry sad again??

The party gives hella Euphoria vibes
