- Take a long, hot shower.
- Put on your pyjama or a baggy t-shirt (I use my Oxford University’s t-shirt, it always makes me feel better)
- Lay on your bed, inside it preferably, surrounded by pillows and cushions.
- Turn off your phone. If you don’t live by yourself, make people leave you alone. Usually they will do it willingly. If not, use money the force.
- Prepare yourself tea/ hot chocolate/ hot milk. Hot things make me always feel better.
- Watch Gilmore Girls.
- Read a good book or some poetry. Harry Potter works. Don’t reread a series which end made you cry. Of course HP made you cry, but don’t read the last one.
- Listen to your cheerful favourite music (Green day, Boston and Foreigneer work to me -sometimes-) Stupid cheerful songs are great too, Pop! Goes my heart is a fuckyousadness hit.
- Watch Mamma Mia. Sing all the songs with all your soul. Karaoking with a good friend is so useful.
- Make lists. I love making lists. A pro and cons list, a “books I’m gonna buy when I’m rich” list, a “places to visit” list…
