Hwarang (a group of handsome and talented men, sons of noble men of Silla) is a historical drama that tells about the life of the faceless king, Sam Maek Jong. He was sent out of Silla when he was very young and by order of his mother, Queen Ji So. Thus, he grew up and was trained to become a true king, far from the palace. Young Sam Maek Jong decides to return to Silla before being called away by the queen. But he remained hidden, wandering around the city under the protection of the one who always cared for him, Pa-O. To keep the royal family's secret, no one could see his face and find out that he's the king. Outside the gates of the capital, let's get to know the life of “mad dog” and his best friend, Sun Woo. They grew up together and lived like peasants. But, Sun Woo always wanted to return to the capital and be able to find his real family, from which he was taken as a child. The problem is that peasants are forbidden to jump over the walls of the capital and the punishment for those who commit this crime is death. Anyway, Sun Woo and Mad Dog, in search of Sun Woo's sister who has the same necklace as him, enter Silla. This decision will completely change their lives, awakening the sleeping destiny. After some confusion, Sun Woo found his sister, but unfortunately, he came across the king who had returned to the capital and also heard “Your Majesty”, ending his short path and starting a new and very long one to his friend, "mad dog" (mainly with his participation in Hwarang).
First k-drama I saw (the first k-drama we never forget, isn’t it?!). At first, I was confused because I wasn't used to Korean names, so I spent the whole k-drama trying to memorize who was who. I loved it and I cried a river with Taehyung scene (ep. 18)… I wasn't prepared and I never will be, no matter how many times I see it. It was also from here that I started to fall in love with these guys (mainly Park Hyungsik, Park Seojoon and Choi Minho) and started following their work.
