Kang Bok Soo has always been a smiling boy who gets a lot of stares at Seolsong Middle School. His grades were always the worst, but his presence enchanted and lit up the room. One day, the teacher decided to join the worst students with the best so that everyone could help each other to increase the class average. Son Soo Jung was the president and the smartest one, so her study duo ended up being our protagonist, Bok Soo. It turns out that Soo Jung's hardworking, simple, and blunt manner left Bok Soo completely in love. Unfortunately, a mysterious accident happened involving one of the students, Oh Se Ho, and Bok Soo couldn't graduate. To make matters worse, Soo Jung had let him down stratospherically. Now, school days are just bad memories that plague Bok Soo sometimes. He became a man who will do anything for money, because without schooling he couldn't get a good job. In an incredibly unusual situation, Bok Soo and Soo Jung meet again after many years and he decides to take revenge.
I believe My Strange Hero is an amazing story in its own right. Apparently, everyone thought it would be just another very simple romantic comedy, but the plot dealt with themes such as emotional abuse, bad parenting, suicidal thoughts, bullying, corruption system, abuse of power, greed, revenge, among others. And not even because it deals with themes considered “heavy” the drama is no longer addictive. I just couldn't stop watching. Still, the story brings sensitive, unmissable and completely charming messages. My Strange Hero's rhythm is perfect and balanced. The writing brings the characters to life so movingly that it's impossible not to get involved or fall in love with their stories. The constancy that the plot brings in practically all of its episodes makes My Strange Hero the best option for any moment. It's a perfect mix of exciting, funny, harrowing, apprehensive, liberating scenes. The drama is intense from start to finish. When I started watching My Strange Hero, I thought that the revenge theme would be one of the main focuses of the story (perhaps the only one). But make no mistake, the plot involves many subjects and they are all well explored, revenge itself is heading towards a definitely different path than expected. The cinematography is wonderful! The landscape, the colors, the climate, everything enhances even more the feelings that are being explored there. It's completely impressive. Scenes with school flashbacks are often more vivid than the current reality of the characters at the beginning of the story. This sensibly reflects that the past never ceased to be present in the lives of the protagonists and that, at times, it seemed even more burning. In summary, My Strange Hero is a perfect drama to watch with the covers on, with cats, dogs, coffee, popcorn, snacks, sweets, boyfriend, whatever. The acting is fascinating, all the actors fit their roles well. The novel is very complete and well constructed! The music is magnificent! The story is very interesting and surprisingly good! So don't miss this work! I love every bit of My Strange Hero!
