Don't Do:

  • excessive coffee/tea
  • SUN
  • biting/picking
  • sucking/licking lips

Treatments:

Exfoliation

  • lime juice exfoliation
    • The right way to exfoliate the lips is to apply a bit of lime juice and allow it to get absorbed. This causes a mild tingling sensation as the citric acid soaks into new layers of the skin underneath, as this skin is quite sensitive.
    • After this you need to tighten the lips by opening the mouth, and using your finger gently rub along the length of the lips, using a similar motion to that of brushing the teeth. You will notice that the skin begins to peel off.
    • After this, you may apply petroleum jelly to the lips to soothe and soften them. You can also roll your lips into the mouth and massage them in this manner, in order to prevent toxins from accumulating in the skin of the lips.
  • lemon/honey
    • Cut a lemon into half and rub it in two drops of honey and apply it to your lips in circular motion. Then wash it with ice cold water and pat it dry. Do this once a day. This makes the lips pink and keeps it glowing.

daily exfoliation

  • Exfoliate your lips regularly every morning with a baby soft tooth brush or simply a wash clothe.
    • But please first apply a coat of Vaseline on your lips and leave it on for about 10 minutes and then do the exfoliating. This process will help remove the dead cells of your lip and give baby soft pink lips.
    • Do the process with a very light and gentle hand otherwise you will end up with bruised lips.Apply lip balm afterward.
    • Initially you can do the exfoliating everyday. But after you get back your lip’s natural color do this only once week as part of your lip care routine.

Scrubs

  • lip scrub
    • Make your own lip scrub by grinding a spoonful of assorted nuts and mixing this powder with a small amount of fresh tomato juice.
    • Apply this mixture to your lips and then slowly massage your lips with it. The powdered nuts will help to gently slough off the upper layer of skin as well as provide your lips with small amounts of natural oils to keep it well moisturized.
    • Tomato juice is a very mild acid and so this scrub will also help to dissolve dead skin cells and reveal the lower layer of fresh skin.
  • honey/flour scrub
    • Alternatively, you can make a lip scrub out of honey and gram flour or rice flour. Make a paste out of the ingredients and then apply the paste to your lips. Allow it to remain on for a few moments and then gently scrub your lips with it. The flour will help to gently exfoliate your lips while the honey in this scrub will help to moisturize your skin.

Lip balm

  • almond oil
    • You may mix almond oil with a small amount of cream and apply to the lips. This will keep the lips moisturized and also prevent stains from building up on the skin of the lips.
  • virgin coconut oil overnight (protection from sun)
  • SPF lip balm
