• the greatest: there is nothing more romantic than an 18-year-old infatuation that leads to a one night stand that leads to a terrible, fatal car crash that leads to a pregnancy and thus the bonding and lack of bonding of a family who lost their son to the true, iridescent blindness of love. dealing with the trauma of losing her love interest and her lack of family support within and without, carrie mulligan's character must come to grips and learn to love onward with a baby growing inside of her stomach from that one boy she always wanted, got, and then got smashed by an incoming car while she was in the passenger seat. gorgeous film.
  • once: oh how I love eclectic Irish men who bond with Slavic women who are married in an unhappy relationship as they make soft singer/songwriter Indie music and bargain for a record deal- superbly artistic. sundance, you do not disappoint. unspoken romance is the best kind.
  • let the right one in: when a 12-year-old boy who is bullied to a point in which he feels that killing people may be a better, more fantastic option but meets a perpetually 12-year-old "girl" neighbor, who not only is a vampire but also was once a boy, you have got to fall in love. true, timeless love that can escape the grasps of time, gender and age all at once. i've never loved a bloody kiss more.
  • amors baller: typical teenage film featuring Swedish butt cheeks. what could go wrong when a romantic comedy is packed with soccer, lip biting and indelible and classic high school romancing?
  • west side story: oh how I love when Italians fall in love with Puerto Ricans and must duel it out- death does them part, but oh well.
