I have a deep, dark, super secret love of making lists. So why not hang out on a site where pretty much all you do is make lists? Also, I guess I get bored often. Hm.

Rings

  • Captive Bead Ring
    • The captive bead or ball fits into a small opening in the circle of the ring. The bead is slightly larger than this opening and has small indentations or depressions that correspond to the ring's end-points so that it may fit snugly against them, thus completing the circuit of the ring. Often, a hole is drilled through the bead to allow easier fitting. It uses the natural tensile or compressive strength of the metal the ring is made of.
    • Materials
      • Ring: Surgical Stainless Steel, Niobium, Titanium
      • Ball: Ceramic, Colored Glass, Gemstone, Surgical Stainless Steel, Niobium, Titanium

Barbells

  • Circular Barbell
    • Also known as horseshoe barbells due to their shape, they are used in any number of piercings, including earrings, tragus rings, nasal septum piercings, madisons, or even horizontal clitoral hood piercings
    • Materials
      • Bar: Surgical Stainless Steel, Niobium, Titanium
      • Balls: Ceramic, Colored Glass, Gemstone, Surgical Stainless Steel, Niobium, Titanium
  • Curved Barbell
    • Also known as a navel curve or curve, so named because of their curvature. A curved barbell is mechanically identical to a straight barbell, except for being curved.
    • Materials
      • Bar: Surgical Stainless Steel, Niobium, Titanium
      • Balls: Ceramic, Colored Glass, Gemstone, Surgical Stainless Steel, Niobium, Titanium
  • J-Bar
    • A slightly curved barbell (sometimes referred to as a bananabell or banana barbell) with a 90 degree bend near one end, used in vertical navel piercings to position the decorative end of the jewelry more appropriately. They can be either internally threaded or externally threaded.
    • Materials
      • Bar: Surgical Stainless Steel, Niobium, Titanium
      • Balls: Ceramic, Colored Glass, Gemstone, Surgical Stainless Steel, Niobium, Titanium
  • Prince's Wand
    • The prince's wand (also known as a penis plug) consists of a hollow tube with a threaded cap at the end. The tube is inserted into the urethra, and a stem is inserted through a Prince Albert piercing and into another threaded hole on the side of the tube. The little side stem holds the tube in place. The threaded cap, often just a ball, can be removed so the wearer can urinate through the hollow tube without having to remove the jewelry (from the Prince Albert piercing).
    • Materials: Surgical Stainless Steel, Niobium, Titanium
  • Spiral Barbell
    • A barbell curved into an aesthetically pleasing spiral.
    • Materials
      • Bar: Surgical Stainless Steel, Niobium, Titanium
      • Balls: Ceramic, Colored Glass, Gemstone, Surgical Stainless Steel, Niobium, Titanium
  • Surface Barbell
    • A surface bar is a barbell where the bar has a pair of 90 degree bends, in the same direction (similar to a staple), to allow the jewelry to be used for surface piercings. This design minimizes the pressure that would be caused by other jewelry designs that contribute to rejection in healing surface piercings. Most surface bars are custom made to fit the individual piercing.
    • Materials
      • Bar: Surgical Stainless Steel, Niobium, Titanium
      • Balls: Ceramic, Colored Glass, Gemstone, Surgical Stainless Steel, Niobium, Titanium

Studs

  • Labret
    • A stud with a flat back so that it can be attached to the facial lip (labrum)
    • Materials
      • Bar: Surgical Stainless Steel, Niobium, Titanium
      • Ball: Ceramic, Colored Glass, Gemstone, Surgical Stainless Steel, Niobium, Titanium
  • L-Shaped Nose Pin
    • Nose jewelry with a right-angled tail to hold the jewelry in.
    • Materials
      • Bar: Surgical Stainless Steel, Niobium, Titanium
      • Ball: Gemstone, Surgical Stainless Steel, Niobium, Titanium
  • Nose Screw
    • Nose screws are nose jewelry with twisted ends and are the most tricky to insert.
    • Materials
      • Bar: Surgical Stainless Steel, Niobium, Titanium
      • Ball: Gemstone, Surgical Stainless Steel, Niobium, Titanium
  • Straight Nose Stud
    • Straight nose studs (nose bones/push pins) are designed with a screw on ball for comfortable wear. They are easy to fit, with no chance of falling out.
    • Materials
      • Bar: Surgical Stainless Steel, Niobium, Titanium
      • Ball: Gemstone, Surgical Stainless Steel, Niobium, Titanium

Implants

  • Microdermal
    • A form of body modification which gives the aesthetic appearance of a transdermal implant, without the complications of the much more complicated surgery associated with transdermal implants. Microdermal implants can be placed practically anywhere on the surface of the skin on the body, but are different from conventional piercings in that they are composed of two components: an anchor, which is implanted underneath the skin, with a step protruding from (or flush with) the surface of the surrounding skin, and the interchangeable jewelry, which is screwed into the threaded hole in the step of the anchor.
  • Subdermal
    • A subdermal implant refers to a kind of body jewelry that is placed underneath the skin, therefore allowing the body to heal over the implant and creating a raised design.
  • Transdermal
    • These kind of implants are placed under the skin, but also protrude out of it. This is done through a process known as ‘dermal punching’. In an explanation of the process, The Church of Body Modification website explains that first the implant is placed in between the layers of skin. They state that it is necessary for the part of the implant that will be located under the skin to have a proper shape. This must be one with holes in it (like a figure eight) so that the body will be able to grow around it. Once the implant is placed, the part that will protrude out is exposed using a dermal punch.

Other

  • Claw
    • The claw, talon or pincher is essentially a curved taper which is worn in stretched ear lobe piercings. The thickest end is generally flared and may be decorated, and a rubber o-ring may also be used to prevent the talon from becoming dislodged when worn.
    • Materials: Acrylic, Glass, Plastic
  • Flesh Plug
    • A plug is a short, cylindrical piece of jewelry commonly worn in larger-gauge body piercings.
    • Types of Plugs
      • Double-Flared (Saddle): Flares outward at both ends, and is thinner towards the middle. No o-rings are needed to keep the plug in the piercing, but the fistula needs to be wide enough to accommodate the flare when the plug is initially put in.
      • Single Flared: Has one flared end, usually worn on the front of the piercing, and one end with no flare. The no flare end is held in place by an o-ring and may or may not be grooved.
      • Straight Plug: A typical-looking cylinder, without flares, and is kept in place by sliding o-rings against both ends of the plug. A grooved plug is a variation on the straight plug, with grooves carved in the material to hold the o-rings snug.
    • Materials: Acrylic Glass, Metal, Wood, Bone, Stone, Horn, Glass, Silicone, Porcelain
  • Flesh Tunnel
    • A flesh tunnel is a hollow, tube-shaped variety of body piercing jewelery. A flesh tunnel usually used in stretched or scalpelled piercings. Flesh tunnels may be worn with a captive bead ring or other object passed through them.
    • Materials: Surgical Stainless Steel, Titanium, PYREX Glass, Silicone, Acrylic Glass, Bone, Horn, Amber, Bamboo, Stone, Wood
  • Taper
    • Piercing Tapers are tools used for enlarging holes for body modification purposes. They are typically designed as long metal rods with one end having a slightly larger diameter than the other. In body modification, tapers are usually used for expanding piercing in order to accommodate larger gauge ear rings or plugs.
