january

  • turtles all the way down
    • writer: john green
    • ★★★☆☆; not the greatest book i’ve ever read although, the way aza’s ocd is described it’s just perfect. i’ve loved to sympathize with her because she’s just too real. the only problem with this book is that the end wasn’t good enough and i expected a lot more.

february

  • the long way to a small, angry planet
    • writer: becky chambers
    • ★★★★★; i think this is my favorite book. period. i mean, it’s sci-fi, it has >a lot< of diversity and it’s very well written. by the end of this book i’ve fallen in love with every. single. character from the “wayfarer”. this book is great, it’s just amazing.
  • simon vs the homo sapiens agenda
    • writer: becky albertalli
    • ★★★★☆; i loved this! i was so inspired by simon and he was ~one of those characters~ which i could relate pretty much with. i came out of the closet because of it and it was amazing to take this weight out of my knees. thanks, simon.

march

  • aristotle and dante discover the secrets of the universe
    • writer: benjamin alire sáenz
    • ★★★★★; oh my god this book... i love every edge of dante and aristotle so much, they’re so real, so well constructed and so personal (i think). this book is the ultimate secret of the universe. besides, it really made me listen to beatles and u2, thanks for that.

april

  • more happy than not
    • writer: adam silvera
    • ★★★★★; i bought this book with no expectations but it surprised me in a fantastic way. it has real world problems within the whole sci-fi plot. this book is amazingly written and i cried so hard by the end of it, one of the greatest endings i’ve ever experienced.
  • grasshopper jungle
    • writer: andrew a. smith
    • ★★★½☆; i was expecting more about this one, this book it’s not bad but it’s really boring throughout the first chapters. the ending is cute besides the horrific and uncomfortable chapters that described giant-assassin-mantis sex.
  • history is all you left me
    • writer: adam silvera
    • ★★★★½; this book is fantastic. i love it so much and it hit me like a truck when it came to my feelings. the only thing that i didn’t like about this book was how bad, trivial, irrelevant and unreliable griffin’s ocd was written and described. besides that, really great

may

  • my heart and other black holes
    • writer: jasmine warga
    • ★★★☆☆; well, it’s a very cliché book and it’s very easy to read, not saying it’s bad but it isn’t very good too. the ending is quite meh and the book as whole it’s ok. not a memorable novel.

june

  • maggot moon
    • writer: sally gardner
    • ★★★★½; i wasn’t giving enought attention to this book at all and i regret it very much. this is one of the saddest and cutest book i’ve ever read plus, i think i’ll name my future son “standish” or “hector”. this book is lovely and it treats our real world problems with such a soft touch. really liked it

july

  • haven’t read any. lol

august

  • a close and common orbit
    • writer: becky chambers
    • ★★★★½; as expected from chambers, this book is so delicate and pure that i want the world to read it. i fell in love with both pepper & sidra because they’re so true to themselves that it definitely inspired me to be happy about just being me. the only thing that i didn’t like was the last words from sidra, i expected more but this is just me nitpicking.
  • will grayson, will grayson
    • writer: david levithan & john green
    • ★★☆☆☆; so yeah... this book was nothing like as i expected and it was a bit disappointing when i found out that both wills weren’t even getting close to each other. only a few parts are okay but the ending isn’t one of them. and i hate it

october:

  • boy meets boy
    • writer: david levithan
    • ★☆☆☆☆; worst book i’ve read. well, this book is just bad and i found out levithan is straight in the middle of reading it. this said, really helped me to understand why the fuck the characters always misunderstood “transsexual” and “drag queen”, two whole opposite concepts of being. plus, the story is bad, like really bad, would never recommend this.
  • two boys kissing
    • writer: david levithan
    • ★★★★¾; started this book expecting the worst by my previous experiences with levithan books but this one... i guess this is his masterpiece, honestly; sensibility, understanding and belonging were the feelings i felt all throughout it. it isn’t a five star book because one of the characters wasn’t connected at all with the kiss.

november:

  • brave new world
    • writer: aldous huxley
    • ★★★★☆; i liked it. i was scared because it was my first piece of english classic literature – in english – but i really loved it though it seemed unnecessarily dense in some parts. definitely recommed to read huxley’s commentary after you read it, i’ll re-read it.

december:

  • carry on
    • writer: rainbow rowell
    • ★★★☆☆; at first, i was very hyped and was very disappointed thinking like: “is it all?” but when i was about page 80 i realized i was in love with the book and with — almost — all the characters. however, it has loose seems to it, like lucy’s plot, simon’s post-trauma situation and some lack of explanations. probably the saddest ending ever, but inevitable. i’ll miss simon and baz.
  • paper towns
    • writer: john green
    • ★★★★★; i love the film but reading the book was just a confirmation of my love for it. it’s really cheesy and very young-ish in some parts but i don’t mind it all. it made me think in a lot of parts and i love the feeling that "paper towns" leaves in your heart, soul, et cetera. great book although very teeny.
