  • whisper of the heart (1995)
    • director: yoshifumi kondou
    • ★★★★★; first off, i’ll admit that i was not very interested in this film’s story. however, as the time passed i was loving the whole vibe of it how an incredible “slice of life” this is. the teachings in this are amazing for one that is hesitant with one’s future and life. as days goes by, the thought of finessing my gifts and training for what i want in life provoked by this animation truly grows; and i love it.

  • the wind rises (2013)
    • director: hayao miyazaki
    • ★★★★☆; if i remember correctly, when i watched this movie i felt weird in some type of way. it was so melodramatic yet loaded with lack of emotion being shown. everything seemed like a trip into a clarice lispector's short-story protagonist. weird yet beautifully animated, this film was the history of perservering through difficulties, and i liked at the time i watched it (late review lol).

  • x-men: dark phoenix (2019)
    • director: simon kinberg
    • ★☆☆☆☆; ugh... can superhero movies get any worse than this one? i don't think it can. i only watched this one because sophie turner was in it, besides liking the x-men universe in the comics. horrible. just horrible.
  • hamilton (2020)
    • director: thomas kail
    • ★★★★★; i've never watched a musical in my life. the way that these were supposedly only told stories through music always have put a question mark up my head. however, i loved every bit of this musical, it a very long film/play but i think it's worth every single moment of this massive thing. i can't stop listening to "burn" and "satisfied", i want to learn how to sing so i can understand better how musical theater actors work lol. loved everything about it!

  • promising young woman (2021)
    • director: emerald fennel
    • ★★★★☆; this film is kinda sad if you put thought into it, the protagonist is a traumatized woman who feels responsible for her best friend’s suicide after being raped by college males. then, she quit med school and became a vigilante of sorts to seek vengeance; finally, she comes up with a kamikaze plan and dies, accomplishing her goal. it’s not a great message and it’s kinda dumb, but it’s fun, in some parts.

  • midsommar (2019)
    • director: ari aster
    • ★★★¾☆; i would not call this an horror film, i’d prefer calling it an agony film. like any ordinary horror film, it relies on some ”jumpscares” to keep the watcher scared and some gore imagery to maintain us perplex. however, the plot is very interesting and it has its twists to make the movie interesting. too bad the whole internet spoiled it before i could watch it. besides, the more morbid and gore scenes are not that great, unfortunately.
