- a designated nap time
- when the biggest worry was making it home before the streetlights came on
- some of the hardest decisions being which cereal to pick at the grocery store
- when a day was deemed "bad" because of something simple like getting your name on the board
- and a good day was when you didn't
- life's biggest tragedies were broken toys and scraped knees
- not having to worry where you would be living next year or what your life would hold, because you would live with your parents and next year you would be one grade higher
- when years were measured around school, because that is what your life revolved around
- so you could actually get excited about "summer break"
- having a reason to get excited about Fridays
