- Thick fog in the early morning.
- Steamed Jasmine rice.
- The smell late at night in the suburbs after a warm day.
- Hearing the sprinklers come on at night.
- Taking a warm shower with the window cracked open to the cool night air.
- Bustling shopping places during the holidays, that have giant Macy's Christmas trees and upbeat Christmas songs gently filtering though the loudspeaker.
- Hearing the first bus make its rounds in the morning (but only if you've got a good night's sleep; otherwise it's just depressing).
- Sitting on a long train or bus ride when you're not stressed or tired. There's just something about watching cities and suburbs and the countryside fly by, imagining being someone living a different life.
- Hot pho on a sad day. Nothing quite as comforting.
- New car smell, which sometimes comes with other new things.
- Satisfying farts or poops that instantly de-bloat. Just saying.
- Spending the day with family at places like the San Diego Wild Animal Park, museums, the Exploratorium, or the Monterey Aquarium.
- Jumping in an outdoor pool on a warm day.
- Borrowing a large stack of easy reading that you're really looking forward to reading. Also, the San Francisco public library, especially the spending the day at the main branch, because it reminds me of escapism and independence.
- Biting into a really good, satisfying sandwich, with just the right amount of "meatiness" (whether or not it actually has meat), crunch, and kick to it.
- The first time skiing down a bunny slope without falling over.
- Going back to a place you know intimately and have good feelings about, such as your hometown.
- Wearing something comfortable that you feel confident in.
- Having a nice break day after a week where you felt like you accomplished a lot.
- Baking something amazing that took a lot of work, and watching someone take that first bite and be completely floored by how amazing it is.
- The first sip of really good coffee on a cold nonhuman morning.
