Pros:

  • Coffee and milk. Such good coffee.
  • Nice people that I work with.
  • Having a more experienced person who also has my title, because I don't feel that intimidated asking her questions about what to do.
  • Cool things that I do.
  • How helpful it is for spectroscopy practice, esp for class.
  • Constant brain stimulation, because it's a constant learning process. It is unusual for entry-level work. Well, mostly on Fridays.
  • Getting to talk to Jake about what I do and have him think I'm cool.
  • Feeling capable and useful about myself at the end of the day.
  • Not having to be on my feet or making...macro body movements all day, because I get frazzled. Also it's less physically taxing.
  • Similarly, not having to do lab work, because I would fuck it up a lot.
  • Getting to set my own damn hours and not getting fired for that reason ever.
  • Going to work in a hoodie and yoga pants.
  • Learning the ins and outs of a more corporate, more "industry" atmosphere.

Cons:

  • Occasionally feeling very incapable and lost because it's a constant learning process.
  • Not having to do lab work, because I do need the practice in order to not fuck it up a lot.
  • Not learning the ins and outs of a more "academic" atmosphere.
  • Not doing my own research, because I'd like the experience (and prestige; let's not lie).
  • Being tired all the time.
