HOMME!! because people asked and i'm too lazy to do a formal primer

our story starts way back in 2010, right after 2AM had their smash breakout hit "Can't Let You Go Even If I Die". At the time, they were under Big Hit Entertainment, which was home to groups like 8eight and GLAM. Big Hit decided that they would try to capitalize on the popularity of 2AM and in particular, Changmin's voice, by creating a subunit duo collaboration thing with the main vocalist of 8eight, Lee Hyun.

Both Changmin and Lee Hyun were known for having very good voices but in particular being very emotional singers, so their teaming up was a great idea in theory. In practice, they were both way too similar to each other in terms of personality, competitiveness, etc that when they were practicing, recording, and even gearing up to promote on music shows, they hated each other. That didn't bode well for the duo, but Big Hit carried on.

They've talked about this before, about how they were so competitive and short-sighted and really didn't want to be a duo (they both wanted solos) at the beginning, until their very first music show performance. Preshow, they were both looking at the food trays laid out for artists, but both of them were on really strict diets at the time - all of a sudden, the dam burst and they bonded pretty much instantly about the industry, pressures, being the main vocal pillar of their groups, etc.

Their debut song, I Was Able To Eat Well, was a smash hit (and my favourite song of theirs). To this day, that song is more popular than Homme have ever been - they even joked that they should change their name to that song just so people know who they are. During their promos, they performed IWATEW on music shows for almost two months - which led to a lot of....shall we say....homoerotic? idk the word for it...tension on stage. It was a joy to watch.

After that, they were silent for about 8 months until their second digital single/release, Man Should Laugh, was released in 2011. This didn't do as well, and not to mince words they didn't get back together after that and shortly afterwards Lee Hyun went for his military service.

During that year however, the two had become a lot closer and became basically, best friends. Changmin, having not been a part of One Day or the survival show that formed 2AM and 2PM, Hot Blood, was the last member of 2AM to be added to the group and only trained with them for three months before debut. This meant that in the beginning he wasn't as close with them, but then when he found his best friend in Lee Hyun tensions eased and he grew a lot closer with 2AM because of the lack of pressure. Changmin even appeared in Lee Hyun's solo MV for no reason, and they were really really cute.

During Lee Hyun's military service, he would hang out with Changmin during his breaks, they'd be seen in restaurants together, etc - bffs. There was even one point where a 2AM fan sent Changmin a package to the cafe he owns, called The Min's (frequented by BTS and operated/run daily by Changmin's mom and dad), and it was signed for by Lee Hyun ;_;;;;. He's close with Changmin's parents too, it's really cute.

ANYWAY. Fast forward to 2014, when Lee Hyun completed his service. The duo went on Immortal Songs a couple times, most memorably here. Their voices...are ridiculous. In the summer of 2014, they released their song It Girl, which...yeah. I'm not going to link to the video, it's really weird, and the song didn't fit their style at all I don't know what Big Hit was thinking at all, and Lee Hyun even came out and said he didn't like the concept. Nevertheless, they performed it on Sketchbook.

They continued just hanging out together, being in musicals, Changmin is currently a visiting professor teaching vocal lessons at a university, Lee Hyun is in a symphony project of some sort, etc. In September 2015, they released a digital single with Kisum, which I lovedddddddddddd. Their voices shine, and so does Kisum, and it was perfect for the end of summer. On October 1st, they released their first solo MV since It Girl, No More Cry. The lyrics are devastating, the song is beautiful and sad and poignant and their voices are spectacular.

They came back again with Ain't No Love in November 2015, and I think it's my fav of their singles actually, after IWATEW, linked here.

That's pretty much it, they're basically best friends in love and their voices fit so effortlessly together and their harmonies are so beautiful and well rehearsed and they make a really good duo!!!
