- nik wants: more ready access to power in the human world / to eat souls (so he's going to try encroach into human cities secretly-like. not being like his dad & being stealthy/living secretly among humans, possibly getting some of his ppl in govt posts instead of blatantly taking over)
- in order to ultimately overpower angel world and use the power demons get from angels to Git Gud & rule the world and whatever
- angel rulers want: maintain the status quo, rigid control
- some angels are saying that they should do more to help humans- it's been this huge debate, on & on & on, but with exploitation under capitalism (bc industrial rev) these angels feel that they have a duty to right the wrongs of flawed human systems/institutions
- they tell nik: kill these angels and we won't confine you to demon world anymore (get him to do the dirty work basically)
- for them, demons being more rampant in human world gives excuse to tighten control in angel ranks to "crack down" but in reality they dont rly gaf about demons eating souls or whatever
- also they prob think since demons have been stuck in underworld for so long, they wont be that big of a threat. want to preserve their own power & position within angel hierarchy instead of looking for common good etc
- nik has other plans ofc
- so niklas makes a deal with them
- ruler person arranges for one of the dissenter angels stationed on earth to be killed by humans. shannon is the 'partner'
- shannon gets drawn away from other angel bc demons are around {under nik's orders in collab with leader angels} so she goes off to chase them but doesn't succeed, other angel gets killed while she's gone, leaders are like u went on a wild goose chase while the other angel was getting killed bye :/
- they blame shannon for failing to protect/negligence & yeet her before she or anyone else can pick their argument apart
