Renjun only has one heart, and it’s in such poor shape that he isn’t sure if he can love anyone else. A curse sent to him in the guise of a blessing, and Renjun is blind to the fine print. That reads Jeno won’t ever love him the way Renjun does and Renjun thinks he always will. He doesn’t have the will to break the curse.

Mark doesn't like to consider himself the affectionate type, but when it came to the smaller boy in front of him, it's almost as if a switch is flipped on, and all his previous beliefs vanish into thin air. Suddenly, he wants to kiss the living hell out of one particular person and hold him like nothing mattered at all. But, as Mark knows, Renjun is stubborn at times like this.

“Excuse me, but who are you calling short?”

Five different ways Renjun can kiss Mark without having to acknowledge their height difference.

The stars glinting in Renjun's eyes are ten times brighter than the fairy lights on his bedroom walls.

It reminds Mark of how bright the Eiffel Tower has shone, when he was in Paris. He wonders how bright Renjun's eyes would be if he looked at the illuminated Eiffel Tower, too.

The first time Renjun asked Mark out, Renjun proposed, Mark was wet and Renjun was drunk.

Or

Four marriage proposals and the one time it came with a ring.

“Here," his mom hands him a tote bag. Mark gives her a puzzled look, his fingers reluctantly grasping the handles. "For Renjun."

Mark takes a peek inside the bag. Bags of chocolates. Body cream. Boxes of tea. Freshly baked maple cookies. Mark feels his heart drop a thousand times the force of gravity. A tear along with it.

Mark's mom always offered him the sweetest smiles during the biggest moments of his life, until one day she didn't.

Prompt: "this is so funny but you know, i had a crush on you back in we young era" renjun laughs

"dang......" is all mark could say but that night he realizes too late maybe he felt those same feelings all that time ago too, even stronger now. but how could he tell renjun?

or

On a night out for drinks, Renjun reveals to Mark that he had a crush on him during We Young era. Now Mark has to deal with the fact that he might have a crush on Renjun too, six years too late.

Twenty years after several missing children forced the shutdown of a popular ice cream parlor, Huang Renjun takes the night shift at its newly-reopened premises. The place is nothing short of creepy, with a glitchy power system and mascots that don’t seem to stay put, but things are going fine—until curious journalist Mark Lee shows up in search of a scoop.

Mark Lee has debuted five times—six if you count his redebut—first in NCT U, then NCT 127, then NCT Dream, SuperM, Dream again, and finally (finally) as a soloist. Mark Lee has rapped on national television as a rookie, performed to sold-out stadiums in front of thousands, millions, of people. And still, sitting in the Dream dorms and holding two plane tickets out to Renjun, Mark Lee is the most nervous he’s ever been.

“What are these?” Renjun asks, blinking.

“They’re tickets,” Mark says quietly, his heart in his throat. “To Paris. For us. For your birthday.”

Or: Mark and Renjun spend a week in Paris, and nothing goes according to plan.

Renjun is pretty sure the creators of Quizlet did not intend for their app to be used by twenty year old college students trying to teach their boyfriends appropriate vocabulary to use while railing them in bed, but well, modern problems require modern solutions.

Renjun is sure someone has written a book about this. A How-To Guide on How to Make Your Boyfriend Stop Jumping Your Bones Every Five Seconds, for Dummies.

And if no one has, then they should. He could really get some mileage out of it.

By the end of the day, Renjun must finish three impossible tasks. Convince the CRA to let him take over his parents’ laundromat. Finally host his father’s memorial. And get Mark Lee to break up with him.

Renjun has never been one for accomplishing the impossible, his life up until now boring and predestined. His parents left home for this quiet town in Canada when he was 7. He did two years at the community college to get a humble Associates Degree. He’s spent endless days watching dryers spin around and around. He’s never accomplished the impossible, and he hasn’t accomplished much else either.

He tells himself that this is the way it has to be. Some people just don’t get to have a story. Some people are meant to be stressed about money, and have the same conversations with their mom over and over, and spend their life thinking about what they could have done instead.

The most interesting thing that has ever happened to him is Mark, but that has to end now.

Until Mark is suddenly telling Renjun that he's from another universe, and to trust no one.

Renjun’s life here is supposed to be boring. That doesn’t mean it is boring everywhere else.

It starts with Spider-Man keeping someone hostage. Kind of.

renjun turns towards mark, hits his arm accusingly, and points to the top button of his shirt, undone to expose a slutty peek of neck.

“where’s your…” dog collar. “your thingy?”

“my thingy is at home,” mark says, nonchalant. “so what’s your relationship to the grooms?”

renjun snorts. God, what isn’t his relationship to the grooms? “I’m the maid of honor. well, best man, but donghyuck is really the girl in the relationship, so maid of honor.”

mark smirks. “cute."

Jaemin called Renjun babygirl. Mark had a PowerPoint presentation—complete with references, interview sources, and several Judith Butler quotes—that had a list of reasons why that was homophobic, dysphoric, disrespectful, and politically incorrect.

Mark’s eyes are round with shock. His mouth hangs open just slightly. It’s enough to catch one of the many stray feathers drifting to the ground.

“Dang. I always knew you were an angel.”

As the eldest two of their team, Renjun could always count on Mark to have his back.

At least, until his back starts sprouting bird wings ー and suddenly all bets are off.

Renjun has always known that Mark has a heart ten times too big for his body. It’s why he fell in love with him in the first place.

He only worries now that Mark’s heart might be so big that Renjun alone isn’t enough to fill it.
