So, I'm not Christian and do not participate in Lent...however, I think that the whole concept of giving up some things for a set period of time is a good one for everyone. I also have an interest in the idea of cleanses, and I think that they are good for the body/soul. So, I have decided that I will have a Lent-like period for myself. I'm sort of thinking of it as a spring cleaning for myself and my environment. I think that I will do this from April 18-May 18.
- ✔ April 18-April 20:
- Juice fast: 32-oz. organic juice per day
- Unlimited unsweetened tea and water
JUICE FAST COMPLETED!!!!! WOO!!!!!
- April 21-May 18:
- Nutrition:
- Stick to the following: fruits, vegetables, chicken, fish, broth or vegetable based soup w/o pasta, grains (barley, quinoa, etc.), nonsweetened yogurt, some cheese
- No refined, processed, or fried foods
- Eat only food that I personally have prepared (i.e., no restaurants)
- Lots and lots of water and tea
- Exercise:
- Run 2-3x/wk.
- Do other workouts 1-2x/wk.
- Environment:
- Go through clothes and other belongings (all the while being completely honest...) and discard/donate those items I no longer need
- Get caught up on filing
- Thoroughly clean the apartment (including things I rarely do, like washing the walls and curtains)
- Mind:
- Reduce mindless/purposeless web-surfing
- No recreational shopping—only necessities
- Spend free time doing things like knitting, reading, etc.
