    • Poorly absorbable, highly gas-forming carbohydrates are associated with increased IBS symptoms in some people. These foods are collectively called FODMAPs.

  • has a laxative effect by adding bulk to the diet and preventing constipation

general diet tips

  • 6 small meals throughout the day
  • drink plenty of water
  • limit caffeinated drinks
  • eat no more than 3 portions of fruit a day
  • no artificial sweeteners
  • don't rush through meals
  • avoid meals that overstimulate the gut, e.g. large meals, high fat foods
