- Poorly absorbable, highly gas-forming carbohydrates are associated with increased IBS symptoms in some people. These foods are collectively called FODMAPs.

general diet tips
- 6 small meals throughout the day
- drink plenty of water
- limit caffeinated drinks
- eat no more than 3 portions of fruit a day
- no artificial sweeteners
- don't rush through meals
- avoid meals that overstimulate the gut, e.g. large meals, high fat foods
