Character Tropes I Enjoy ⠀──────────⠀ immediately smitten by characters that show the following characteristics (these might overlap A LOT with each other)

  • appeareance: sharp teeth, black hair, moles, glasses, blonde hair works sometimes, either super slender or fat, bangs and hair vents, long hair, emo or gothic fashion, vampire or demon.
  • LOW SELF ESTEEM IS KEY. whether they have a coping mechanism to hide it, or they just let it out shamelessly (or with a lot of shame in this case), they need to hold very little worth towards themselves, think very lowly of themselves or believe themselves to have little to no worth. this is not a requirement but it is a pattern of behavior i do notice happening a lot in characters i like.
  • quiet loner
    • typically an oddball in some way or another (pervy, likes weird things, likes animals more than people, talks to himself, has weird mannerisms). in the same vein, they may have severe anxiety or a phobia that impedes them from interacting with others normally. bonus if they're suicidal, but not required.
  • small annoying critter with delusions of grandeur.
    • they believe they're tough shit but they're easy to handle if you're bigger than them. they may have insecurities regarding their size or some other thing that they try very desperately to cope with.
  • pompous villain/antagonistic figure
    • very vain and full of themselves. bonus if they're kinda pathetic and not taken seriously by the narrative, but not necessary.
  • loud, energetic airhead
    • always ready to go, possibly very annoying to everyone around them. **not to be confused with incoherent oddballs**, the character trope i'm referring to is very purposeful with their oddness, often but not always used as a mask to cope with other things in their life. bonus if they have abandonment issues and they use that loudness to fill every room they're in and be noticed.
  • narcissus complex, prince charming-esque who is really into themselves
    • the prince element is not necessary. they just have to have a flamboyant and grandious air to them. every action is heavily calculated and theatrical, these characters believe the world revolves around them but they often just annoy everyone around them. bonus if their personality is a mask and theyre actually very insecure. sometimes they will be successful in impressing others with their theatrics but they have to have some sort of aspect that makes them somewhat pathetic.
  • perverts with a heart of gold
    • suave, smooth and flirty characters. they enjoy flirting and putting on a seductive act because they know (or genuinely believe) it will work every time. bonus if everyone around them lowkey hates them a little and they constantly fail in their advances. they're normally a very nice, likeable and well adjusted member of society once they drop the whole wanting to fuck everyone act. that's what makes them stand out to me. not to be confused with sex pests, the character trope i'm referring to will not get handsy unless given explicit consent, but they *will* keep trying to seduce everyone around them and are often seen as desperate, which is what makes them annoying but also extremely appealing to me particularly.
  • father figure
    • to qualify, this character has to try their very best to look after the group of misfits they came to adopt and looks very serious and respectable but has a soft spot for very specific, silly things.
  • kind, sweet, soft spoken, prince-esque guy
    • will act super nice and gentle to everyone around them. there's not much else behind this one, i have a soft spot for these characters. however, BIG BONUS if their lovable and welcoming personality is actually mask and they're actually fucking mean, very easily irritated, anxious, particularly when they warm up to people enough to drop the nice guy act because they care a lot about appeareances. this is not necessary, the character can just be kind and sweet but this will add a little bit of spark that will instantly spice up the character for me.
  • uptight glasses wearing tsundere.
    • a classic but it never gets old. they tend to be perfectionists and try to mask by acting dignified, logical and proud but they normally do let their anger get the better of them, usually taking it out on fellow cast members who piss them off particularly. they will often but not always believe they're better than everyone around them, considering others to be lower than them on various scales whether it is intelligence, wisdom, abilities, etc. they also tend to have very particular personality quirks, ticks and habits that they must do as part of their daily routine. they will freak out if interrupted or done wrong. possible ocd. i do mention glasses on this particular trope because it is very common, but they will not always wear them.
