BOOKISHFRIENDS 2013 BOOK THEME "CHALLENGE"

  • Each Month has a theme. (One book per theme.)
    • Yes, we aren't reading the same book. The idea is to inform people of all the different books available to read within the theme.

GUIDELINES:

  • Pick one book. Any book within the theme or genre.
    • We'll discuss the readings on the last week of every month. (It depends on your day.)
  • Challenge someone other that us to join in.
    • If someone joins, be sure to remind them that they don't have to start from the beginning, and that if they don't want to participate one month it's totally fine.
  • Video Responses are encouraged but not required.
  • Once a month (around the end) there will be a live chat discussing all the different books of the theme/genre we read that month.
    • If you cannot participate in the live stream you don't have too. There's five of us, so… someone should be able to. :P
  • JUST HAVE FUN WITH IT! BE IMAGINATIVE, venture outside of your comfort zone! :D

MONTHLY THEMES Books in each month could be either Middle Grade, YA, or Adult Fiction unless it's May. xP It's up to you.

  • Jan - New Year/New Author: Pick a book by an author you've never read before.
    • No Listopia List
  • Feb - Cheesy Romance: As a tribute to Valentine's Day! So choose something romantic.
  • March - M for Magic: Read a fairy tale, or a wizard book; ANYTHING MAGICAL. :D
    • Listopia Lists for Magic
  • April - April Fools: Read a book that will make you "laugh-out-loud." Genre doesn't matter at longest it makes you laugh… in some way shape or form.
  • May - M for Middle Grade: Go back to your roots and read a book you've enjoyed back in Middle School. If for some odd reason you cannot think of anything just read a middle grade book or a book you think you'd like if you were still in middle grade.
    • No Listopia List
  • June - June 8th is World Oceans Day = Mermaids/men aka Merpeople. It could be a book about a girl/boy who wants to be a mermaid/men. Merpeople just have to be a big part of the book.
  • July - Summer Lovin' (Happened so Faaaast): Pick a book that is set during the summer. Doesn't have to be romantic, just set during a summer month.
  • August - Austen in August: It could be an actual Austen book or a Jane Austen Inspired Novel (Sequels/Adaptations/Spin-offs)
  • Sept- S for Steampunk: If there's gears and gadgets and "science" stuff, it's steampunk. (Note: Steampunk is usually set in an anachronistic Victorian or quasi-Victorian alternate history setting.)
  • Oct - Octoberweeen! Read something Spooky/Scary/Horror to cause that scary adrenaline rush!!
  • Nov- No Clue November time: Read a mystery book!
  • Dec- Holly Jolly and Bright: Read something that deals with Christmas, because everyone loves a good Christmas Tale. ;)

If you are interested, please contact us via Youtube/Twitter/Email with at least 3 month choices in case we have more than one volunteer for the same month. Thank you!
