  • 1/4 medium onion
  • 1 chili pepper, green or red
  • 1 scallion
  • 2 tablespoons 된장
  • 1 teaspoon 고추가루, adjust to taste
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 2 cups water or anchovy broth
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar (optional)

    • (short grain) rice flour

  • eggs (optional)
  • fish cake (optional)
  • 고추장 hot chili paste

  • 1lb rice cakes
  • 1/2 pound beef (flank steak or brisket), chopped into small pieces
  • 3-4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 large green onion or 3 green onions
  • vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • fish sauce or soup soy sauce
  • toasted sesame oil
  • ground black pepper
  • 1 sheet of dried seaweed paper
  • 1 red pepper (optional)
  • 7 cups water
